Using Ipads

Today I ventured deeper into possibilities of how to incorporate ICT into early learning settings after my mind map showed just how few resources I knew. I reflected on my comment in week one about having two year olds who are iPad literate and wondered why this can’t be a viable option within the classroom. With some research I found the blog Technology in Early Childhood, specifically an article titled ‘Five best learning apps for pre-k and kindergarten’. Written about a teachers actual experience using apps on an iPad in a classroom the apps in question cover skills ranging from colours to mathematics and include features such as multiple ‘accounts’ to save each students progress. Another article spoke in depth of the advantages and disadvantages of locking students out of programs (app store etc) and what impact this has on their learning. Overall a very interesting read and definitely food for thought.
